Why Did We Start This?

Preservation of Indian Knowledge System: A Cultural Responsibility
The Vedas represent one of Humanity’s Oldest and Most Profound Knowledge Traditions, Preserving Insights into Philosophy, Spirituality, Ethics, Science, Language, Culture and Human Development. For thousands of years, this sacred Knowledge was transmitted through an unbroken oral Tradition by dedicated Scholars and Gurukuls.
According to traditional accounts, the Vedic corpus was once preserved through numerous Shakhas (Branches or Recensions), each maintaining its own method of Chanting, Interpretation and Transmission. Historical records and Traditional sources indicate that:
Rig Veda was traditionally associated with 21 Shakhas.
Yajur Veda was associated with 101 Shakhas.
Sama Veda was associated with 1,000 Shakhas.
Atharva Veda was associated with 9 Shakhas.
Together, these amounted to 1,131 Vedic Shakhas, representing an extraordinary Heritage of Knowledge and Learning.
Today, only a small number of these traditional branches remain actively preserved and practiced. Many scholars estimate that approximately 12 Shakhas continue to survive in complete or substantial form, while the vast majority have been lost over the course of history due to Social Upheavals, Invasions, Decline of Traditional Educational Systems and The gradual disappearance of oral lineages.
Why Vedic Preservation Matters
The Preservation of Vedic Knowledge is not merely a religious or cultural concern—it is the safeguarding of an invaluable Civilizational Heritage. The Vedas embody:
• Ancient linguistic and Literary Traditions.
• Philosophical and Spiritual Wisdom.
• Cultural Identity and Historical Continuity.
• Traditional Educational Methodologies.
• Sacred Chanting Systems recognized for their Precision and Uniqueness.
• Timeless principles that continue to inspire Ethical and Harmonious living.

Our Commitment
At Yog Dharana Foundation, we believe that Preserving and Promoting Indian Knowledge System is a collective responsibility. Through Awareness Programs, Educational Initiatives, Cultural Activities, Research Support and The Encouragement of Traditional Learning Systems, We aim to contribute to the Protection and Transmission of this Invaluable Heritage for future generations.
Save Vedas – Preserve Civilization
The loss of a Vedic Shakha is the loss of a unique stream of Human Knowledge. By supporting Vedic Education, Encouraging Traditional Scholarship, Documenting Oral Traditions and Inspiring Younger Generations to Learn and Preserve this Heritage, we can help ensure that this timeless Wisdom continues to Enlighten Humanity.
“Preserve the Vedas • Protect Our Heritage • Inspire Future Generations”.
